Daily Drop Cap

The Daily Drop Cap is an ongoing project by typographer and illustrator Jessica Hische. Click dailydropcap.com to see her blog.

Found a typographer who has challenged herself to design an illustrative initial per day. She posts them and allows you to embed into your page. They look cool! All of you could use this concept in your RWB’s. A couple of you may really appreciate this.

Coffee Art

I thought these were sooo cool. I came across them while I was just scannin the internet. I’m beginning to create a trend of food-based art postings. But, I just couldn’t resist. (:

Kevin Frank

this Encaustic Painting was done by Kevin Frank. the reason why i choose this composition to share was because it shows the potential Encaustic painting can have. for instance look at the detail Frank uses. i could practically feel the wind my self. and the meticulous attention to detail in the face of the dog just astounds me. and the texture he creates with fur and the grass. in addition to the shine of the coat and the gleem to the eyes really exemplifies encaustic painting.

de gas

i really enjoy his work as far as him paiting dancers because i know as a dancer it isnt easy to do the move so it must be a little difficult to draw and paint. he just seems to have this amazing attention to detail with the hands and placement of the arms in certain positions. im entirely sure what it is but i love his work of the dancers.

Andy Goldsworthy

Andy Goldsworthy does so amazing things with his hands. He creates his art out of items found in nature, such as rocks, leaves, ice, flowers, stone, wood, etc. He then, after he creates the design, takes a photo of it because since he creates his art in nature and leaves it in nature it will be destroyed. I own the movie ‘Rivers and Tides’ which is a documentary of Goldsworthy in action. (It actually is a very boring movie but the things he does are really very interesting.)

This is a painting Brandon Oxendine painted of my sister, Erin. I thought it related to the positive-negative space thing we have been learning in class. I really like this, and it is crazy how much it really looks like Erin.

Jane Allen Nodine

I found this artist by reading about her in a news paper. THere is a link so yall can go see her work. She does encaustic and she really good.
